Description

  • Abstract

The production design specifications (PDS) states all the performance, constraints and user interface of the personal ice maker. All the requirements of the project are listed to limit the design options. The final design should satisfy all the design requirement. Safety and cost are also very important design factors. The ice maker should be small, light and simple to use.
Cost
The price of the ice maker should be in an affordable range comparing to other similar products in the market.

Size
The size of the ice maker should be relative small so that it can fit inside a car, and it is portable to carry with during a long-distance trip. The dimension of the ice maker is 1 ft x 1 ft x 1 ft.
Weight
The total weight should be approximately 15 lbs so that it can be easy to carry.
Ice making time
The ice maker can produce 25 pounds of ice in 24 hours, it has relatively high efficiency for this size of ice maker model.
Capacity
The ice cube basket capacity is 3 pounds, with a 3L water reservoir.
User interface
The system should have a very simple user interface. A LED screen control panel is a simple and effective way to display all the parameters, and physical buttons allow users to control the ice maker in several simple steps.
Life time
The appliance should at least last for 5 years, which last longer than most of the current portable ice maker.
Power Consumption
It is environment friendly, because the power consumption is only 160 W, it consume very little energy comparing to some of the portable ice maker currently in the market. It is environment friendly.
